Passion Flower Vine

The tropical passion flower or passion vine (Passiflora spp.) naturally grow in South America and Mexico. An annual vine here in Iowa, prefers to grow on a trellis in full sun and in well-drained soil.  The blooms were originally used by missionaries to teach of the passion of Christ which is how it got its name. IMG_9401IMG_9402IMG_9404IMG_9406IMG_9408IMG_9409IMG_9410Because the annual vine was quite expensive to buy as a plant (and apparently very difficult to grow from seed), I am going to attempt to take cuttings and possibly even dig it up and bring indoors this fall. Have you ever done this with your passion flower?
