2017 Fall Chrysanthemum Show

Located just north of Interstate 80 and south of Omaha’s historic Old Market at 100 Bancroft Street, Lauritzen Gardens is a year-round attraction. Each year the botanical center hosts its Fall Chrysanthemum Show.

“Experience a fascinating fabrication of flowers at the garden’s annual fall chrysanthemum show. Bold mums combine with vibrant colors, rich fabrics, diverse textures and other exotic design elements- representative of the storied Japanese culture.”

The name “chrysanthemum” is derived from the Greek words chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower). These are exhibition chrysanthemums. ‘Mums’, as they are commonly known, start blooming in the fall.

Lauritzen Gardens grows heirloom Chrysanthemums from Kings Mums, which is the same company I order from. I even spoke with one of the staff about it during my visit.

Here are some of the photos I took this weekend. Some of them were labeled so made sure to take notes. This year’s show runs through November 17, 2017.

Woodman’s Century.

Wonderful photography and good reminder there is one last week for the Fall Mum Show! Love the Woodsman’s Century! Did they have the other varieties labelled? Fascinating varieties. River City is my favorite for this year.
