This weekend Ryan picked up and planted a lot of trees on our property. He planted Red Oaks, Burr Oaks and Norway Spruce. Below are pictures of the Red Oaks. I’d have to ask, but I bet it was a total of over 20 trees.
Everything is starting to bud. Spring is finally here.
I brought all of my agave outside today for repotting and splitting. Each one has around 2-3 pups every year that I take off the mother plant. You have to be careful with these as they are razor sharp.
Here are the pups!
Pups from a few years ago that are getting big!
I dug quite a few dahlias last year and put them in our cellar that is underground and attached to our garage. Unfortunately, 99% of them did not survive the winter. All except for this one dahlia. Wannabee.
What’s going on at your house this spring? Do you think we will get another frost yet?
So enjoy your blog!

Hi Melissa, I’m sure you will enjoy watching those trees grow and mature for many years, a great investment in the future. And I’m sorry to hear about your dahlias — I’ve never had a lot of luck storing them over winter either, but I did read some good instructions at Old House Gardens: https://oldhousegardens.com/HowToSpring#Dahlia
I hope it might be helpful. Hope you’re enjoying our beautiful Iowa spring weather these days, now that winter’s finally behind us! Best, -Beth
