A few photos from around the farm this weekend. I planted these Monarda (Bee Balm) last year and they are just blooming like crazy right now. In the mint family, this species borders on the edge of invasive. However, it’s a bee and hummingbird favorite so I think I’m ok with it taking up some space in this front bed.
Liatris or gay-feather is also blooming nearby.
My grapes are starting to get really big now. Along with everyone else, we’ve been struggling with Japanese Beetles.
My vegetables are coming on really strong right now. I have tons of cucumber, various types of squash, eggplant, kale and peppers. My tomatoes are getting very close!
I’ll post another duck update soon but here is one more photo for now.
Did you have a good 4th of July? What’s going on in your yard?
Beautiful garden, Melissa. Watch that monarda. I planted a 4″ pot in our field about 10 years ago and it is now about 25′ square! I have some in a bed by the road that is pretty easy to control by a sharp spade to the edges in spring and forking out the extras. It is a pretty plant and so popular with pollinators, I don’t mind the extra work. 😉
