As some of you know, we lost our sweet Colby in late winter. As a wire-fox terrier over twelve years old, she lived a full life that included many second chances; jumping out of a moving truck resulting in a broken leg, being viciously attacked by a neighbors dog and many fights with furry farm intruders. She lived life hard and at 100 miles per hour. She loved swimming in the pond and chasing everything that moved but most of all, protecting Ryan and I from anything that could harm us.
She was Ryan’s dog when we met but I spent six years with her as well. She was very much my dog but her true love was Ryan. It was a difficult loss for us and we needed a few months to recover, but began searching for another dog this summer.
Let me introduce Keeta, an Airedale Terrier, from Missouri. We actually found her sister Lindy online first but she sold before we could call. Luckily, they had another dog they were willing to sell. Keeta came from what the family calls the “ark” with many farm animals including goats and chickens. She is one year old and potty trained, walks great on a leash and gets along well with all of our other pets.
She was truly one-in-a-million. We are so lucky to have found our sweet girl and are so in love! These pictures are from her second night with us. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of her soon.
Airedales are the largest of all terrier breeds. They can stand up to 23 inches tall at the shoulder and weight 50-70 lb. They have a wiry coat that is brown and black and shed very little. Airedales can be very protective of family and their homes. They are great with all kinds of sports, games and family activities and can live up to 11-14 years old.
Keeta is probably 2-3 times the size of Colby! She does everything bigger, including drinking water out of her bowl…. it gets everywhere!
We are so happy to have Keeta with us on the farm.
