This spring I went to Atlanta, Georgia for what ended up being nine days due to a cancelled flight. I attended a marketing school related to the industry I work in and it was very helpful for my career. I made a lot of great new friends from across the country and truly enjoyed the over 80 degree and sunny weather.
However, that meant nine whole days of missing this gorgeous spring weather in Iowa, when everything turns green and comes to life. By the time I got back, the lilacs were blooming, the crab apples were already showing off their unbelievable number of blooms and the grass is now as green as can be. I can’t help but feel like I missed out. I hope you are all enjoying this spectacular show as much I am. Here are some photos of the blooming apple trees on our property. Just beautiful.

I have a bleeding heart that is blooming in the front yard right now too.

Everything is starting to come to life.

I do have some sad news to report. While I was out of town, one of our ducks was killed. We think it was possibly an owl as it happened during the night. We now have three females and three males. The females have been laying eggs everywhere but don’t seem to want to lay on their eggs (which is ok with me) as I am not sure we need any more ducks right now.

What’s happening in your yard right now?

Beautiful apple blossoms, Melissa. Sorry about losing your duck, nature takes what she wants regardless of what we do to protect. We’ve been cold and rainy here for weeks – hoping to get a warm-up this week, which will bring things along.
