Peaceful Night on the Farm

Tonight was one for the record books. It was about 70 degrees, sunny and no wind. My is my absolute favorite kind of night. We spent the entire evening enjoying the beautiful weather with a little yard party. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was invited.

Running toward me. Has to be the best thing in the world.

Here is a little video I made of the yard party tonight.

Nothing better than chicken running in slow motion.

Keeta also was around but not while I was taking video. She has been with us for almost a year now and is pretty good with all of the other animals but thinks its fun to harass the birds a bit. She grew up on a farm (with chickens) in Missouri and we got her when she was about a year old. She can be a good girl, sometimes.

Are we done taking pictures yet?
Not quite, Keeta.

I’ll end here with some photos from around our neighborhood, the edge of the beautiful Loess Hills near Crescent, Iowa.

Have a great week!

I enjoyed seeing the chickens running – it reminded me of trying to run in a long dress. All those feathers must have the same effect. And I love the butter won’t melt expression on the dog, when it would be happy to tease the chickens a little given half the chance.

I love watching chickens – a soothing meditation. Glad the kitty leaves them alone, even if the dog doesn’t. 🙂
